GF82.60-P-2002SKK CD-Player Mode, Function

GF82.60-P-2002SKK CD-Player Mode, Function
- with CODE (498) Japan version

CD player mode is initiated at the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) in the "Audio" menu. Using the function keys the audio source desired by the user can be selected here. The audio CDs can be played via the integrated digital versatile disk (DVD) ROM drive or using the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer). The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) is equipped with an automatic insertion slot for 6 CDs that is used to load them centrally. Each CD can also be loaded and removed individually with the selection buttons on the unit. The system is operated vi the keypad on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).

Only 12-cm CDs can be inserted into the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).

The control signals of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) as well as the audio data of the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted through the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) takes over signal processing and signal amplification of the audio signals.

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) has to be coded appropriately with the aid of STAR DIAGNOSIS, otherwise faults can occur when playing back the audio signals.

When an audio CD is inserted into the slot of the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer), the following functions are available to the user:
^ Selecting the CD slot in the changer (starting with 2 CDs)
^ Loading CD
^ CD selection (starting with 2 CDs)
^ Select track
^ Music search, forwards or backwards
^ Current play time (of track or CD)
^ "Scan" function
The music tracks are played for 8 seconds. At the end of the CD, the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) automatically switches to playback mode or to the mode that was last set.
^ "Random" function
All the tracks of a CD are played according to the random principle. Once all tracks on a CD have been played one time, the next CD is loaded automatically. The random function continues running and is repeated until it is deactivated.
^ "Repeat" function
Alternatively one track, all tracks on a CD or all CDs in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are repeated.

The following possibilities are available in the menu "Adjustments":
^ Normal track function
^ Repeat track
^ Repeat CD
^ Select track mix

CD title allocation, function
Each CD contains a permanently stored table of contents (TOC entry). Thus, the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) recognizes the particular CD and can automatically name it after the one-time user allocation of the title. The table of contents (TOC record) also contains information on the number of titles on a CD and the total CD playing time.

Playback of an audio CD in MP3 format
The designation "MP3" is an acronym for MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3 and describes an audio compression standard, which permits the compression of digital music signals to approx. 8 % of the original data size. This is done with almost no audible difference to the original signal (audio CD). It is also possible to play back audio CD in MP3 format in addition to conventional audio CDs in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6). While doing so, a conventional audio CD is emulated (simulated).
