GF82.60-P-2002SKX CD-Player Mode, Function
- with CODE (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation system)

CD mode with the integrated digital versatile disk (DVD) ROM drive
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is equipped with an integrated DVD ROM drive for playing DVDs and audio CDs.

CD changer mode (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer)
The CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6) is controlled by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The control signals and the audio data from the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted by th Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).

Only 12 cm CDs may be loaded into the CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6).

The signals between the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) are transmitted via the MOST. The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) takes care of final amplification of the audio signals. The amplified signals are then emitted via the vehicle's speaker system. The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) offers the following functions:
^ "Scan" function
The music tracks are played for 8 seconds. At the end of the CD the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) automatically changes to the mode last set.
^ "Random" function
All the tracks of a CD are played according to the random principle. Once the CD has been played once, the next CD is automatically loaded and the random function continues.
^ "Repeat" function
Alternatively one track, all tracks on a CD or all CDs in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are repeated.
^ Fast forward, rewind (music search)
The music played is audible during fast forward or rewind. Certain parts of a title can therefore be specifically played or skipped.

CD title allocation, function
Each CD contains a permanently stored so-called table of contents (TOC record). Thus, the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) recognizes the particular CD on the basis of this table of contents and can automatically name it after the one-time user allocation of the title. The table of contents (TOC record) also contains information on the number of titles on a CD and the total CD playing time.

Playback of an audio CD in MP3 format
The designation "MP3" is an acronym for MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3 and describes an audio compression standard, which permits the compression of digital music signals to approx. 8 % of the original data size. This is done with almost no audible difference to the original signal (audio CD). It is also possible to play back audio CD in MP3 format in addition to conventional audio CDs in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6). While doing so, a conventional audio CD is emulated (simulated).
