GF82.60-P-2003RC Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

GF82.60-P-2003RC Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio
- with CODE (510) Audio 20 with CD changer

Function requirements
^ Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"
^ Audio system is authorized and operating free of faults
^ Audio source in operation

General
All volume and tone settings are performed using the radio (A2). This is conducted either by the user or automatically by the radio, e.g. by means of the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL]). The volume and sound setting function can be conducted as follows:
^ General function sequence for volume adjustment on right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
^ Function sequence for general volume setting and general, extended tone settings over the control buttons and radio rotary actuators
^ Function sequence for speed-dependent volume control

In addition to the general tone settings such as bass, treble, balance, and fader, the radio is equipped with an extended tone setting, the "LOGIC7 function", with code (810) Sound system.

Operating instructions
The volume can be adjusted with the following components:
- With the + and - button, for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) at the right multifunction steering wheel button group
- With control buttons and rotary actuator of the radio

The tone settings can be adjusted with the following components:
- With control buttons and rotary actuator of the radio

Function sequence, general volume setting via right multifunction steering wheel button group
Pressing the + and - buttons for adjustment of specific functions and volume control (S111s1) allows volume for the desired audio function to be increased or decreased.

The control signals are forwarded via the following path to the radio:
- Steering LIN
- Steering column tube module (N80)
- Interior CAN

After evaluating the control signals, on vehicles with code (810) Sound system the desired settings are transmitted to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and then output over the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear speaker (H4/7)
- Right rear speaker (H4/8)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left door tweeter (H4/33)
- Right door tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified, and output over the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter

Function sequence for general volume setting and general, extended tone settings over the control buttons and radio rotary actuators
Operating the radio's rotary actuator enables the volume to be raised or lowered for the desired audio function.

Pressing the "Tone setting" button on the radio, enables the user to make all the general or extended tone settings. The control signals are read in and evaluated within the radio. On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the desired settings are transferred to the amplifier for sound system via the MOST and then output over the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker

On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified, and output over the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter

Function sequence for speed-dependent volume control
The speed-dependent volume control can be used to adapt the volume to the noise level in the vehicle interior. The speed signal from the instrument cluster (A1) is used as a reference value for this function. The speed signal is transferred to the radio over the following path:
- Instrument cluster
- Interior CAN

This procedure will run automatically. After evaluating the relationship indicator, the audio output is matched to the noise level in the vehicle interior.
Depending on the vehicle speed signal, the radio raises or lowers the output level of the audio signals.

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the output signals are transferred via the MOST to the sound system amplifier and then output to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker

On vehicles, except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified and output to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter
