GF82.60-P-2003SKB Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio

All volume and tone settings are carried out by the radio (A2) at the operating unit. It is necessary to differentiate between audio sources and service sources:
Audio sources are:
^ Radio (A2)
^ CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6)

Service sources are:
^ Traffic radio announcements
^ Telephone (TEL) and voice control system (VCS)

Volume setting
The volume setting is regulated at the combination push and rotary button of the radio (A2) for each of the selected audio sources. In addition, it can be set separately in all audio and service areas (telephone, traffic information radio channel).

Via the soft key assignment "Volume", it is possible to increase or decrease the volume of the traffic information. Using the RESET-function, predefined settings for the sound parameters including volume can be selected and reset to the factory settings.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
The volume is adapted to the noise situation in the interior using the speed-dependent volume control. The vehicle speed signal is used as a relationship indicator by the instrument cluster (A1) when doing this.

In vehicles with code (810) Sound system up to 31.8.06 the speed-dependent volume control is supplemented by automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation. The signal input at the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) is used as another relationship indicator when doing this.

Mute
If the user presses the function key "Mute", the audio source currently being listened to is muted or the CD drive changes to a pause status. The muting function status can also be triggered automatically.
When a telephone call comes in, the radio (A2) switches to telephone mode and mutes the audio source.

Tone setting
The radio (A2) permits manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, and fader) for each audio source. The "AUDIO" function status can be reached from any function status (except "AUTO-ON").

The bass is shown on the display as the first tone setting called up. By pressing the AUDIO function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear), increased volume and traffic announcements can be called up. The messages of the AUDIO function status are output in the display field. The tone control only relates to the active system function status. If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other. The settings "balance" and "fading" are called up by pressing the main function key for tone distribution in the left control field. Processing of the signals for the required volume and tone adjustments is performed by the radio (A2).
