GF82.60-P-2003SKJ Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

GF82.60-P-2003SKJ Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (498) Japan version

All volume/sound settings are performed in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and are transmitted via the media-oriented system transport (MOST) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1). It is necessary to differentiate between audio sources and service sources:
Audio sources are:
^ DVD ROM drive
^ CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer)
^ Radio

Service sources are:
^ Traffic announcement
^ Telephone (TEL) and integrated voice control system (VCS)

Volume setting
The volume of whatever audio source is set can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). This can be adjusted separately in all audio and service areas (telephone, audio).
With the RESET function, predefined settings for all sound parameters including volume can be selected and reset to the factory settings.
In the "Audio" menu, the difference between the volume of the audio signal and the voice output for navigation, voice control system (VCS) and traffic announcements can be adjusted. This enables the voice output to be easily heard even at high audio playback. The volume of the voice output can also be changed during a voice output.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
The volume is adapted to the noise situation in the interior using the speed-dependent volume control. The vehicle speed signal is used as a relationship indicator by the instrument cluster (A1) when doing this

In vehicles with code (810) Sound system up to 31.8.06 the speed-dependent volume control is supplemented by automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation. The signal input at the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) is used as another relationship indicator when doing this.

Mute
If the user presses the "Mute" function key, the audio source currently being listened to is muted and the DVD-ROM drive changes to a pause status. The "muting" function status can also be triggered automatically.
The COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) switches to telephone mode when a call is received and mutes the audio source.

Tone setting
The COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) allows manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) for each audio source.. The "AUDIO" function status can be reached from any other function status (except "AUTO-ON"). The bass is shown on the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) as the 1st tone setting called up. By pressing the "AUDIO" function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left, right), fader (front, rear), increased volume and traffic announcements can be called up. The messages of the AUDIO function status are output in the display field. The tone control only relates to the active system function status. If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other. The "Balance" and "Fading" settings can be adjusted by pressing the main function key for sound distribution in the left control panel.

The signal processing required for the volume and sound settings is performed via the audio component integrated into the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, further final amplification of the audio signals is possible in the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) by way of the digital sound processor with the enhanced sound processing and amplifier stage and the additional surround sound settings.
