GF82.60-P-3115-04SK Radio Control Panel, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio

The control buttons and switches of the function keypad in the radio (A2) are read in by the microcontroller and supplied to the central computer. Depending on the system function, the key entries are further processed in the central computer and transmitted to the other system components via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST), Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) or the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) in the form of a data telegram. If the "ON" button on the combination push and rotary controller is pressed the radio (A2) switches on. In each case the volume can be regulated with the pushbutton rotary switch for the audio source active. The main function buttons switch over to the audio source or telephone required by the user. If the user presses the "Sound settings" function key, default settings for bass, treble, balance, fader, volume control, traffic messages and surround sound can be altered. Using the "Mute" function button, the audio source currently being listened to is muted.

The radio output signal is suppressed, the CD disk drive goes into the pause mode. If the user presses the "Tel-send- key", a telephone call is initiated or answered. On pressing the "Tel-end key" the call is terminated.

The number block can be used for the following:
^ Entering required telephone number
^ Calling up or saving a radio station
^ Direct entry of a radio frequency
^ Selection of a CD
^ Direct entry of a CD track

The cross rocker switch (cursor button) can, for example, be used for searching in the telephone book or to carry out fixed programmed commands of the respective function level. If the user presses one of the two "Search" function keys, this function is carried out in the current function level.

CD ROM disk drive
The radio (A2) is equipped with a CD disk drive. All the tone and volume settings are carried out via the control panel.

AUX jack
In the glove compartment there is an AUX jack that can be used as a connection facility for additional audio sources, e.g. an MP3 player.

Brightness setting
To be able to see the information in the display better, a continuously variable brightness adjustment is possible using the cross-shaped rocker button.

Offboard diagnosis, STAR DIAGNOSIS
The radio (A2) has its own diagnostic trouble code memory. In case of a diagnostic trouble code memory inquiry via STAR DIAGNOSIS, the data can be read out via the interface at the central gateway control unit (N93). Output of the errors on the display unit is not possible.

"Traffic information" function
The way the radio (A2) responds when a traffic message is received depends on the current function status. Traffic messages are ignored if the user has not activated the "traffic information" function. If traffic messages are accepted, the radio (A2) changes to the "DISPLAY TRAFFIC MESSAGES" function and displays the symbol "INF" in display field 1. At the same time, the radio (A2) changes to the function status.

The volume of the messages corresponds to the current preset. The station name is also displayed. At the end of the traffic message, the display changes back to the function status active beforehand, the volume being adjusted back to the last selected level. The following function groups are shown on the display:
^ Autostore
^ Automatic station search
^ Radio Data System (regional)
^ Select/play back tracks randomly (Random)
^ Repeat track
^ Skip empty band
^ Traffic program

User information:
^ Arrival of an SMS message

Function status:
^ Telephone function status active (roaming)
^ Cellular phone function status active
