Filler
Filler/stone chip protection performs various tasks in the painting process. Primarily, it is used to fill and level out unevennesses in the substrate. Secondly, it forms a flexible substrate for the top coat.

The basic flexible properties of a filler are essential for the complete paint system for stone chip resistance.

Corrosion-protecting pigments in fillers also increase the corrosion-protection properties of the coating.

Water-based fillers are increasingly being used at Mercedes-Benz. Apart from the ecological benefits, these hydrofillers also improve the corrosion-protection properties. This protects the environment and improves quality at the same time.

Fillers are mostly applied with ESTA high-rotation bells (as illustrated opposite).
