GF98.00-U-9000A Assessing paint damage

Notes on Mercedes-Benz paint damage assessment
The following documentation is intended to help you, when assessing paint damage, to determine the fault exactly and identify the corresponding type of damage. This helps to eliminate questions and delays in handling warranty and goodwill claims.

When checking the vehicle, proceed step by step starting from the nominal condition, where the care given to the entire vehicle should always be taken into consideration.

Regular care of the finish with MB paint care products is just as important as an oil change or adding oil. This helps prevent damage to the paint finish.

In spite of the use of high quality paints at Mercedes-Benz, it is not possible to completely eliminate damage from environmental effects during the course of operation, due to the extremely large variety of damaging chemicals, atmospheric and biological effects.

Notes:
- Proceed according to WIS and microfiche group 98, latest edition, for all work involving paint, corrosion protection and care of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
- Paint damage can be largely avoided by observing the repair procedure guidelines and general principles regarding paintwork contained in WIS and microfiche!
- Many types of paint damage can be eliminated by more economical polishing work, i.e. without repainting - for example: dirt inclusions, paint fog, runs or loss of gloss.

Generally after polishing, the surface should be treated with Mercedes-Benz Paint Care products.
