GF98.00-P-4050B Overview Of Paintwork/Corrosion Protection

Component Identification:

The preceding graphic portrays the corrosion prevention measures employed at the Bremen plant, starting with the pretreatment on the body-in-white and culminating in the assembly of the painted and protected body. The indicated temperatures are the surface temperatures of the bodywork.

Models R 171 and R 230 are painted on another production line (shop 1); however, the production sequence is essentially identical.

The following chapters and documents show how reliable corrosion protection is achieved for passenger cars produced in Bremen through design measures, production sequences, painting processes and the use of special materials.

Shipping wrap to protect paint surfaces from damage is offered as special equipment (SA):

Material:
PEPP

Processing procedure:
manual adhesive bonding prior to assembly
