GF77.30-P-2100SK Vario Roof Convenience Opening/Closing With Transmitter Key, Function
- with CODE (880) Infrared remote locking
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15C OFF
^ Status of Vario roof recognized (determination of Vario roof position)
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ Temperature of soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) in valid range for corresponding actuation direction and type of actuation
^ Vario roof actuators (soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) and cylinder) okay
^ Trunk lid closed
^ Trunk partition closed

These functions prerequisites are checked during the entire Vario roof operation If one of these function prerequisites is no longer fulfilled, the Vario roof operation is interrupted immediately.

Function
When opening or closing the Vario roof the side windows are also included in the operation by a desmodromic valve control,Desmodromic valve control means that first the side windows are lowered when the Vario roof is opened and then the Vario roof itself is opened.During the closing the Vario is closed first and then the windows are moved up Desmodromic valve control of the side windows with the Vario roof prevents damaging the Vario roof operation resulting from collision.
The convenience closing or opening feature of the Vario roof is activated with the transmitter key (A8/1) via the infrared signal

For this purpose, press appropriate open or close button on transmitter key (A8/1) and hold down, while pointing at the left IR receiver (A26/1) or right IR receiver (A26/2).
The left door control unit (N69/1) or right door control unit (N69/2) receive the signal by the left IR receiver (A26/1) or right IR receiver (A26/2) and relay it to the CAN B (CAN) to the EIS control unit (N73).

The EIS control unit (N73) checks the access authorization of the transmitter key (A8/1). If the access authorization is valid the EIS control unit (N73) relays the "Open or close" signal to the power soft top control unit (N52).
The signal is transmitted to the left door control unit (N69/1) and right door control unit (N69/2) by the power soft top control unit (N52) via CAN B (CAN) in order to actuate the left front power window motor (M10/3) and right front power window motor (M10/4). The left rear power window motor (M10/5) and right rear power window motor (M10/6) are actuated directly by the power soft top control unit (N52).
In addition, the soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) is actuated by the power soft top control unit (N52) and the Vario roof is closed or opened hydraulically.
The power soft top control unit (N52) forms the central unit in the Vario roof system (VR) receiving, transmitting and relaying signals. The signals are transmitted via CAN B (CAN) or transmitted or received directly.

Search function of power soft top control unit (N52)
The search function is started when an actuation request for the Vario roof is received. The power soft top control unit (N52) recognizes the position of the Vario roof via the search function. For this purpose, all limit switches (S69, S69/3, S69/10, S69/11, S118, S119) and the rotary tumbler/trunk lid microswitch (S88/1) are read in. This determines whether the Vario roof is opened, closed or in a valid intermediate position. If no plausible Vario roof position is recognized, the Vario roof operation is interrupted and the corresponding warning message appears in the instrument cluster (A1).

Signals via CAN B (CAN) to and by power soft top control unit (N52)
^ Terminal status and access authorization of transmitter key (A8/1) via EIS control unit (N73),
^ left front power window motor (M10/3) via left door control unit (N69/1),
^ right front power window motor (M10/4) via right door control unit (N69/2)
^ Vario roof closed limit switch (left pin) (S69) via overhead control panel control unit (N70)
^ Rotary tumbler/trunk lid microswitch (S88/1) via rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
^ Outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) via driver-side rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
^ Function and warning displays to instrument cluster (A1).

Direct signals by power soft top control unit (N52)
^ to left rear power window motor (M10/5),
^ to right rear power window motor (M10/6),
^ via Vario roof open relay (A7/5k1) or Vario roof close relay (A7/5k2) to soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5).

Direct signals to power soft top control unit (N52)
^ from Vario roof "locked" limit switch (right rotary tumbler) (S69/3),
^ from trunk partition "closed" limit switch (S69/10),
^ from Vario roof open/lowered" limit switch (S69/11),
^ from tubular frame "locked" limit switch(S118),
^ from tubular frame "open" limit switch (S119),
^ from soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) (only in the event of overtemperature)
