Component Identification:

Location
The lumbar pump is mounted on the roof crossmember, under the roll bar on the front passenger side.

Task
The lumbar pump aspirates the air required for the lumbar support adjustment and routes it for storage into the pressure vessel (1). A pressure switch integrated into the lumbar pump monitors the air pressure and switches the lumbar pump on when the lower pressure switching point (p < 0.5 bar) is dropped below, or off when the upper pressure switching point (p ≥ 0.8 bar) is reached.

Design
The lumbar pump is an electromotively driven booster pump with integrated check valve and pressure switch.
