42-0009 Notes on Accident Prevention on Brake Roller Dynamometers

General

1. The brake roller dynamometer must only be operated by trained persons.
2. Before the vehicle is driven on to the roller set, the driver must be sure that the roller dynamometer is ready for operation (master switch switched on).
3. The driver must only leave the driver's cockpit whilst the vehicle is on the roller set in an emergency.
4. Staying beneath the vehicle or in the pit is not allowed while a vehicle is on the roller set.
5. Persons must not remain in the vicinity of the rotating rollers, wheels or drive shafts during the test.
6. In cases of emergency, the brake roller dynamometer should be switched off via the red EMERGENCY OFF switch.

Testing ABS and 29 or 57 b StVZO

1. Before driving on to the roller set, the roller dynamometer must be switched over from "automatic" operating position to "manual" operating position.
2. The remote control for checking the ABS must only be operated from the driver's cockpit.
We therefore recommend attaching a sign with the following information where it is clearly visible (e.g. roller dynamometer display):
When the vehicle is on the roller set,
- it is f o r b i d d e n to stay beneath the vehicle or in the pit or in the vicinity of rotating parts.
- The vehicle may only be left in cases of emergency.
- In cases of emergency, press the red EMERGENCY OFF switch.

42-0009 Test Information

In the interest of road safety particular care must be paid to checking and maintaining the brake system. The brake system is therefore to be checked regularly.
The following manual with check cards is used for special brake check (BSU) and intermediate check (ZU):

Mercedes-Benz vehicle check (MBFU)

Descriptions and information are contained on the individual test steps in this manual - arranged in groups and test step numbers.
This MBFU manual can be obtained from the MBVD/NM Department under the EDP no. 6690 0250 01 through the usual ordering channels.

The following is to be noted in the event of complaints on the brake system:

Only replacement parts which have been approved by the factory may be installed. In the Federal Republic of Germany e.g. brake parts such as brake power regulator, pressure control valves, plastic pipes and brake linings are listed in the General Operating Permit (ABE).
If other parts are fitted which are not valid for the respective model, the ABE is annulled.
During storage, it is to be ensured that rubber products are always protected from sunshine, heat and chemicals. The storage area should be dry and the temperature should neither be less than 10C nor exceed +35C.
