GF83.20-P-2003SK Heater Circuit Function

Component Identification:

Function
The coolant circulation pump (M13) pumps cold coolant through the engine (M)The coolant absorbs the engine's heat and becomes heated. Then part of the heated coolant is routed through the heat exchanger (1), where the heat is dissipated to the passenger compartment air. The flow of coolant through the heater heat exchanger (1) is controlled separately for the driver and front passenger sides by the duovalve (Y21). Warm coolant is also led through the window washer fluid heater coil (2).

Most of the coolant does not flow through the heat exchanger (1), but from the engine to the coolant thermostat (4). Depending on the water temperature, this conducts the water through the radiator (3) or directly to the coolant circulation pump (M13).
