Component Identification:

Function
The electronics for controlling the automatic heater (HEAT) are networked with the entire vehicle electronics via the class B Controller Area Network bus (interior) (CAN-B) and via the AC bus. This in turn makes it possible to incorporate additional climate-relevant influences, in order to improve the regulation quality and to lower power consumption.

The following signals are available for the electronic control and regulation of the interior vehicle temperature:
^ the temperature in the air flow downstream of the heater heat exchanger by the left heat exchanger temperature sensor (B10/2) and the right heat exchanger temperature sensor (B10/3) via the HEAT control and operating unit (N18).
^ the outside temperature by the outside temperature display temperature sensor (B14) via the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
^ the position of the left front power window motor (M10/3) via the left door control unit (N69/1) and the right front power window motor (M10/4) via the right door control unit (N69/2).
^ the position of the doors by the left door contact switch (S17/3) and the right door contact switch (S17/4) via the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
^ the engine speed and the actuation of the electric suction fan/ AC motor (M4/3) via the motor electronics control unit (N3/10).
^ the ground speed via the instrument cluster (A1).
^ the battery voltage via the EIS control unit (N73).

The following components are actuated by the HEAT control and operating unit (N18) for the electronic control and regulation of the interior vehicle temperature:
^ the blower regulator (A32n1) for controlling the blower motor (A32m1).
^ for air distribution, the
- fresh air and recirculated air actuator motor (M2/5)
- left and right footwell flaps actuator motor (M2/15)
- left and right defroster flaps actuator motor (M2/16).

^ the duovalve for the flow of coolant in the heater heat exchanger (Y21).
