Heating/A/C - Right Footwell Air Outlet Can't Be Closed

Check routing of wiring harness for glove box illumination on air duct/footwell flap in model R171 (affects left-hand drive vehicles). Possible fault codes are 94A8, fault code 95A8.

Reason for change

Complaint:
Right Footwell Air Outlet can not be closed.





Attachments

Cause:
Wiring harness for glove box illumination trapped.

Possible fault code 94A8 "Electrical fault - footwell flap", 95A8 "Mechanical fault - footwell flap" stored in DAS.

Remedy:
1. Remove right footwell paneling.

2. Visual inspection with flashlight.





3. The vehicle is NOT OK if the wiring harness is visible in the air duct (see item 1 in attachment).

4. The vehicle is OK if the wiring harness is NOT visible in the air duct (see item 2 in attachment).

5. Reroute wiring harness above air duct and fasten to air duct with self-adhesive felt.

6. Perform function test on footwell flap.

7. Read/erase fault memory if necessary.
