GF54.30-P-2006SK Activating Instrument Cluster, Function

Component Identification:

Activation of the instrument cluster module (A1) initiates the following processes:
^ Displays the current content of the upper multifunction display (A1p13).
^ Displays the current content of the lower multifunction display (A1p15).
^ Activates the instrument lighting (A1e8).

The instrument cluster module (A1) is activated by:
^ unlocking the driver's door (with search illumination feature active)
^ driver's door opened
^ closing the driver's door
^ parking lights ON
^ Circuit 15R ON
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ user input at the rheostat for instrument and search illumination (+/-)
^ user input at the trip odometer reset button (A1s3)

When the instrument cluster module (A1) is activated only through an action at the driver's door, the instrument lighting (A1e8) will be deactivated after 30 s have elapsed.
This standby period is extended to 120 s when a current warning message is being displayed.

A1 When any one of these conditions is occurs while the instrument cluster module (A1) is already active, the active state is extended by an additional 30 seconds.

The instrument cluster module (A1) does not respond to the trip odometer reset button (A1s3) or the rheostat for instrument lighting and search illumination (+/-) when its active status lasts > 60 s.

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) monitors the status of the left-side (S17/3) and right-side (S17/4) door contact switches and then relays the corresponding data to the Class B Control Area Network bus (interior) (CAN-B).

The status of the parking light "Terminal 58d ON/OFF" is transferred to CAN-B by the SAM control unit with fuse and relay module for the driver's side (N10/1).
The instrument cluster module (A1) receives these data and is then activated as the circumstances warrant.
