The electric headlamp range adjustment is prescribed by law to prevent vehicles with xenon headlamps from dazzling oncoming traffic. The headlamp range adjustment automatically keeps the incline angle of the driving lamps at the legally prescribed limits when vehicle level changes take place, caused by the loading of the vehicle or by dynamic changes (e.g. acceleration, slowing down).

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15R ON
^ Exterior lamp switch (S1) in "Driving lamp ON" position

Function
The headlamp range adjustment rear axle sensor (A51) and the headlamp range adjustment front axle sensor (A52) are read in via a discrete line by the headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71). The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) actuates the left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1) via the HRA power module (E1n3) in the left front lamp unit (E1).
The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) actuates the right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1) via the HRA power module (E2n3) in the right front lamp unit (E2).
