GF82.10-P-1004SKX Turning Lamps, Function

GF82.10-P-1004SKX Turning lamps, function
- with CODE (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit
- except CODE (772) AMG styling package - front spoiler, side skirts, and rear apron

Component Identification:

In addition to the low beam, the turning lamps provide better road illumination in city traffic. The turning lamp represents an additional lighting function that is provided using special front fog lamps (turning lamp with integrated fog lamp function). The fog lamp at the side facing the bend is switched on when the vehicle is being driven forwards. When the vehicle is being reversed, the fog lamp is actuated inversely.

Function prerequisites when driving forwards and stationary without reverse gear engaged:
^ Circuit 61 ON
^ Exterior lamp switch in "AUTO" position, low beam "ON" or daytime running lamps active
^ Low beam request from rain/light sensor (B38/2) (darkness detected)
^ Speed < 40 km/h

Function prerequisites when reversing and stationary with reverse gear engaged:
^ Circuit 61 ON
^ Exterior lamp switch in "AUTO" position, low beam "ON" or daytime running lamps active
^ Low beam request from rain/light sensor (B38/2) (darkness detected)
^ Speed < 40 km/h
^ Reverse gear engaged (signal generated by central gateway control unit (N93))

Depending on steering angle sensor (N49), turn signal indicator and vehicle speed
Only one turning lamp is actuated. If there is a "right" request at the steering angle sensor (N49), the turn signal indicator or both, the right fog lamp (E5/2) is actuated. If there is a "left" request at the steering angle sensor (N49), the turn signal indicator or both, the left fog lamp (E5/1) is actuated. The turning lamp remains active for as long as the function prerequisites are present. The turn signal indicator has priority over the steering angle sensor (N49) (exception: reverse gear engaged). The turning lamp function is performed using a delayed dimming ramp when the function is switched off. The turning lamps are switched on and off using separately adjustable dimming ramps. If the terminal status changes from "Circuit 15 ON" to "Circuit 15 OFF" the lamps are switched off immediately (with dimming). If the reverse gear is engaged, the function of the lamps is inverted, i.e. if there is a "right" request at the right steering angle sensor (N49), the right turn signal indicator or both, the left fog lamp (E5/1) is actuated.

If there is a "left" request at the steering angle sensor (N49), the turn signal indicator or both, the right fog lamp (E5/2) is actuated. Only one turning lamp is ever actuated, unless the parameter setting has been changed to "Park lighting max" (both turning lamps are actuated). In order to prevent the turning lamps from illuminating for short periods when the selector lever is being moved from "P" to "D" (via "R"), the message from the central gateway control unit (N93) is filtered out for t = 500 ms. A parameter is provided that is responsible for switching the lamps on for a minimum time at speeds of less than 40 km/h (one-touch turn signaling, parking, reversing). The minimum activation time starts when the stop condition of the function occurs. A small offset has been programmed into the on/off switching procedure to prevent the turning lamps from flickering when the vehicle is being driven at the threshold speed of 40 km/h.

If the lamp has been switched off at the exterior lamp switch (S1) and the exterior lamp switch (S1) is now moved to "AUTO" or "Manual driving lamp position" again, the turning lamps are only switched on again if this is permitted by the parameters of the turn signal indicator, the steering angle sensor (N49) or both.

The lamps are switched off immediately without dimming under the following operating conditions:
^ Diagnosis
^ Hazard warning flasher activation
^ Exterior lamp switch (S1) in position "0"
