Headlamp with projection system (with halogen, xenon or full LED headlamps)
Modification notes
The headlamp adjustment is generally mechanical.
Pressing a lever changes the position of a movable blind. The movable blind then covers up the part of the light beam which - through appropriate projection - is responsible for illuminating the edge of the roadway.
The lever for this purpose is located next to the bulb and can be accessed after removing the corresponding cover on the headlamp housing.
The lever's location, version and actuation are dependent on the manufacturer of the headlamp and the model.
Observe the safety regulations pertaining to handling high-voltage parts on xenon and bi-xenon headlamps.
The setting is to be checked with a headlamp aimer following manual adjustment.
In model 211 with Intelligent Light System, the adjustment of the headlamps occurs electronically using Star Diagnosis.
On model 216, the headlamps are adjusted electronically using Star Diagnosis.
With model 172 and 204.9 with halogen headlamps, the headlamps are adjusted using the headlamp range controller.
The headlamp setting must be checked before adjustment using a headlamp aimer.
In model 204.0/2/3 with Intelligent Light System, the headlamp adjustment occurs in the on-board computer via the instrument cluster.
In model 204.0/2 as of YoM 11/1 with halogen headlamps, no headlamp adjustment is necessary.
In model 204.3 with halogen headlamps, no headlamp adjustment is necessary.
In model 207 and model 212 up to 30.11.09 (YoM 09/2) with bi xenon headlamps, the adjustment of the headlamps occurs electronically using Star Diagnosis.
In model 172, 207 and model 212 as of 1.12.09 (YoM 09/2) with bi-xenon headlamps, the adjustment of the headlamps occurs in the on-board computer via the instrument cluster.
In model 218 with full LED headlamps, the headlamp adjustment occurs in the on-board computer via the instrument cluster.
In model 246 with halogen headlamps, no headlamp adjustment is necessary.
In model 246 with Intelligent Light System, the headlamp adjustment occurs in the on-board computer via the instrument cluster.

The headlamps are adjusted using the headlamp range controllers.
Procedure:
^ With normal load, turn the headlamp range controller to position 1.
Turn headlamp range control to position 0 after returning to the country in which the car is registered.
^ With high load, turn the headlamp range controller to position 2.
After unloading the vehicle, turn the headlamp range controller back to position 1.
Model 172 with Intelligent Light System
The headlamp adjustment occurs in the on-board computer via the instrument cluster.

Procedure:
