Task
The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) serves to ensure passive occupant protection. In the event of an accident, the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) ensures triggering of the respective restraint system equipment.

Head-on, rear-end, and side impact collisions are recorded, and a distinction is made between the different types of collision. Rollovers around the longitudinal vehicle axis can also be detected.

^ Triggering of restraint system equipment in the event of an impact
^ Monitoring of seat occupation status of front passenger seat
^ Storing non-volatile crash telegrams
^ Voltage supply of system components
^ Capacitor for the event of a battery disconnection during an impact
^ Self-test and permanent monitoring of system and fault display with non-volatile storage of faults and failure times.
^ Error output over diagnosis
^ System-ready display for the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) and for automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1)
^ Evaluation of integrated sensor
^ Automatic seat belt reminder warning
^ Output of signal to send an emergency call (only (United States Of America) with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)
