GF46.11-P-1001SK Switching Steering Wheel Heater (LRH) on/Off, Function

GF46.11-P-1001SK Switching steering wheel heater (LRH) on/off, function
- with CODE (443) Steering wheel heater

The steering wheel heater switch (S59/1s2) as well as the function indicator (LED) for "heating" (red) are integrated in the steering column tube module (N80). The heater is operated with the front section of the steering wheel heater switch (S59/1s2). The function indicator is switched off if the heater is defective.

There are 3 positions for the steering wheel heater switch (S59/1s2):
^ Turning upwards
^ Turning downwards
^ Center position

The center position is the neutral position.

If the rotary switch is turned upwards, the steering wheel heater is switched on. Turning the switch downwards causes the heater to be switched off.

The position of the rotary switch is read in by the electronics in the steering column module (N80) and placed on the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). The switch position is transmitted cyclically for as long as the steering wheel heater switch (S59/1s2) is actuated (turned upwards or downwards). The cycle time is 100 ms.

The center position of the switch is not transmitted by the steering column module (N80).

The steering wheel heater detects the center positioning when the rotary switch has not transmitted the cycle time 3 times or there is no information on rotary operation available.

Function sequence
This system becomes operational by waking CAN-B.

When the steering wheel heater switch (S59/1s2) is operated upwards the information (cycle time) is placed on CAN B via the heater request.

If the interior temperature is below 30 degrees C and no fault is diagnosed in the front HS [SIH], AIRSCARF and steering wheel heater control unit (N25/7), as well as no under voltage or over voltage is present, the heater coil is energized with a maximum of 7.2 A.
