Component Identification:

The driver's wish for the maximum acceleration of the vehicle is fulfilled by the kick down function.

The kick down function is activated as of a pedal travel at the electronic accelerator of > 90%.

A foot force increase at the kick down point continues to be noticeable for the driver. A kick-down simulator (100) is integrated in the electronic accelerator for this purpose.

The kick down signal is recorded by the accelerator pedal sensor (B37) read in by the motor electronics control unit (N3/10) and passed on to the ETC [EGS] control unit (N15/3).

Based on this information the ETC control unit (N15/3) actuates the solenoid valves so that the upshifts and downshifts take place at higher engine speeds in order to achieve maximum performance.
