GF27.19-P-1202ACW Steering wheel shift buttons component description
- Transmission 722.618/640/646/695/699
- with CODE (428) Steering wheel shift paddles

Component Identification:

Location
Located on the rear of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) on the left is the steering wheel downshift gearshift button and on the right the steering wheel upshift gearshift button (S111/1).

Task
- Shifting into a gear from which the vehicle can be favorably accelerated or decelerated
- Direct shifting of all forward gears in manual transmission mode "M" (except code (494) USA version)

Function
The steering wheel shift buttons (downshift and upshift ) are read in by the steering column module control unit (N80) over the steering LIN (LIN E1). The steering column tube module control unit places the "shift down" or "upshift" signals on the chassis CAN (CAN E). The electronic transmission control unit (VGS) (N15/3) receives the signal via the CDI control unit (N3/9) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) and actuates the gear change.
Shifts, which could result in impermissibly high or low engine speeds, are not performed.
