Component Identification:

1 Clean non-machined sealing surface (b) on the new end cover (B) and rear axle center assembly housing.

Unmachined sealing surface (b) and sealing surface on rear axle center section housing must be free of oil and grease

Component Identification:

2 Apply Loctite 5970 sealing compound around circumference of sealing surface (arrow).

The sealing compound must be applied only to the specified sealing surfaces (arrow) with a bead of 2.0 mm (± 0.5 mm).

The sealant must be applied within 10 minutes! The silicone bead should not be spread. Only the approved sealant may be used.

Component Identification:

3 Position the end cover (54) and fix in position with the aid of flange bolts.

Use flange bolts. The end cover (54) must not slip.

4 Step 1: Fit and tighten remaining flange bolts.
5 Mark bolt flanges relative to rear axle differential housing (a).
6 Place mark (b) on rear axle differential offset by 45 degrees.
7 Step 2: Tighten flange bolts with 45 degrees swing angle. The markings (a, b) must then match.

The flange bolts can also be tightened using a commercially available angle gauge.
