Component Identification:





Press off joint hub


1 Press joint hub (37d) off rear axle shaft using drift.
2 Check joint hub (37d) and rear axle shaft (37a) for damage on spline edges.

If on the splined profile of the joint hub (arrow) not more than 3 teeth per caulking, up to a maximum length of 6 mm, have broken out, the joint hub (37d) can continue to be used.

Component Identification:





Press on joint hub
3 Clamp rear axle shaft in vise (use protective jaws).
4 Using a suitable tool press on joint hub (37d) until dimension (b) is reached.

Component Identification:





Caulk joint hub
5 Clamp rear axle shaft in the vise so the joint hub (37d) lies on the jaws.

It must still be possible to turn the ball retainer.

6 Apply the new caulkings to be applied (arrows) with caulker centrally between the existing caulkings.

Component Identification:





In order to prevent damage (e.g. breaking away) of the ball raceways, the caulkings must be applied as close as possible to the splined profile.
