GF82.15-P-0002SK Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function

GF82.15-P-0002SK Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
- with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15 On

Manual operation function
The headlamp cleaning system's (HCS [SRA]) request, initiated by operation of the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1), is read in by the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). In response, this discretely actuates the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2). The HCS pump (M5/2) builds pressure up in the washing water line, which acts against the telescopic nozzle return springs.
This causes the telescopic nozzles to move out and spray water onto the headlamps. Following completion of the request, the pressure in the washer fluid line drops again and the spring force acts on the telescopic nozzles, moving them back into their starting position.

Pressing the HCS switch (S1s1) again during an active headlamp cleaning cycle has no effect. A further cleaning cycle can only be activated after the previous one has ended.

Automatic operation function
With the low beams switched on, the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is automatically actuated by the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) following 15 actuations of the windshield washer system (time interval between individual operations t > 2.5 s), .

With each windshield washer system request, the internal counter in the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is incremented upwards by one until the value 15 is reached. The HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is then actuated and the counter reset to zero.

The internal counter is also reset to zero at circuit 15 OFF or low beams OFF.
