Function
If the vehicle speed drops below approx.
5 kph, the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches the wiper motor (M6/1) down one level. If intermittent wiping is active the longest wiper interval is selected. In vehicles with code (345a) rain sensor the vehicle switches back to rain sensor operation when the speed drops below the speed threshold. If the rain/light sensor (B38/2) is faulty, the vehicle switches down a level.

If the vehicle accelerates and the speed exceeds approximately 8 km/h again, the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) automatically switches the wiper motor (M6/1) back to the wiper level that has been selected using the combination switch (S4).
If a wiper request is issued (intermittent, level 1 or 2 wiping) the speed reduction is suspended until the speed drops below the speed threshold again. The speed reduction is not suspended by wiping or touch wiping.
