Location
The PTS control unit is located under the trim in the right of the trunk.

Task
The PTS control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in via a direct line:
- Outer left front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/1)
- Center left front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/2)
- Inner left front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/3)
- Inner right front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/4)
- Center right front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/5)
- Outer right front PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/6)
- Outer right rear PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/7)
- Inner right rear PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/8)
- Inner left rear PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/9)
- Outer left rear PTS ultrasonic sensor (B8/10)

Interior CAN
The following signals are read in via the interior CAN:
- Vehicle speed from instrument cluster (A1)
- Status of foot-operated parking brake provided by the driver side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Status of Vario roof from soft top mechanism control unit (N52)
- "Day" or "Night" signal from overhead control panel control unit (N70)
- PTS OFF switch (N72/1s8) from upper control panel control unit (N72/1)
- Terminal status circuit 15R from EIS control unit (N73)
- Wheel speeds and status of reverse gear from central gateway control unit (N93)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following lines:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3)
- Center dashboard PTS warning indicator (A44/4)

Interior CAN
The following signals are transmitted via the interior CAN:
- Mute signal for mute circuit of audio sources to the radio (A2) (with code (510) Audio 20 incl. CD changer or with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio) or to the radio und navigation unit (A2/56) (with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer or with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio) or to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) (with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- Status of Parktronic system (PTS) for actuating the display element integrated in the PTS OFF switch to the upper control panel control unit
