Component Identification:

Location
The door contact switches are located in the corresponding door cutout at the height of the lock wedge.

Task
Task The status of the vehicle doors (open or closed) is senses as electrical signal by the door contact switches. The status of door contact switches is read in by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and transmitted to the interior CAN.

Design
The door contact switches are designed as normally closed contacts (when the vehicle doors are closed the switch contacts are open).

Function
When the driver door is open, the associated door contact switch transmits ground potential to the corresponding input of the rear SAM control unit.
