GF88.79-P-2002RC Fold Left/Right Outside Mirror, Function

GF88.79-P-2002RC Fold Left/right Outside Mirror, Function
- with CODE (500) Folding left/right outside mirrors
- refinement package
- as of model year 09

Function requirements, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ Function in instrument cluster (A1) activated

Folding left/right outside mirror function sequence, general
The outside mirror housings can be folded in and out electrically in pairs to prevent damage.
If circuit 15R is switched off during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is nevertheless completed.
If a new housing adjustment request is recognized during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.

The actuation duration depends on the outside temperature. Actuation is accomplished at temperatures of T > 5 °C with t = 5 s,
at T = 5 °C to -8 °C with t = 6 s and
at T ≤ -8 °C with t = 8 s.

The fold left/right outside mirror function comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Manual folding in/out, function sequence
^ Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
^ Function sequence for automatic fold-out via speed signal

Manual folding in/out, function sequence
Manual folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Manual folding in function sequence
^ Manual folding out function sequence

Additional function requirements for manually folding in
^ Circuit 15R ON or circuit 15 ON
^ Last actuation was folding out
^ Vehicle speed v < 47 km/h

The circuit status is transmitted by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) via the interior CAN.

Manual folding in function sequence
By actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S50/1s3) integrated into the outside mirror adjustment switch with/without mirror fold-in/out feature (S50/1), the mirror housings can be folded to the garage position.

The adjustment request from the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is read in directly by the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) and is transmitted to the left door control unit (N69/1) and right door control unit (N69/2) via interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the power folding mirror motor (M21/1m3) in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) and the right door control unit actuates the power folding mirror motor (M21/2m3) in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).

Additional function requirements for manual fold-out
^ Circuit 15R ON or circuit 15 ON
^ Last actuation was folding in

Manual folding out function sequence
By momentarily actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch, the two mirror housings can be folded out to the drive position.

The adjustment request from the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is read in directly by the upper control panel control unit and is transmitted to the left door control unit and right door control unit via interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the power folding mirror motor in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror and the right door control unit actuates the power folding mirror motor in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror.

Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
Automatic folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Automatic folding in
^ Automatic folding out

Additional function requirements for automatically folding in
^ C. 15C OFF

Automatic folding in function sequence
When the vehicle is locked with the central locking (CL) from outside with the transmitter key (A8/1), both mirror housings are folded in automatically (garage position).

Additional function requirements for automatic folding out
^ CL open
^ Last actuation was folding in

Automatic folding out function sequence
When opening the driver or passenger door for t > 600 ms both mirror housings are folded out automatically to the previous position.

If the mirror housings are still folded in with circuit 15R ON by a previous automatic folding-in procedure, the mirror housings are folded out immediately.

Additional function requirements for automatic fold-out via speed signal.
^ Circuit 15 On
^ Vehicle speed v > 47 km/h

Function sequence for automatic fold-out via speed signal
If the mirrors are not folded out while driving after folding in manually, an automatic request "Fold out mirror housing via speed signal" is transmitted to the mirror housing starting at a speed of v > 47 km/h.

After exceeding a speed of v > 47 km/h is no longer possible to fold in the outside mirrors.

After resetting c. 30 the mirrors are moved in the fold-out direction the first time the mirror housing is actuated.
