Only perform operation steps 1 to 9 for removal of the engine.
1 Remove partition wall (1) between the wheelhouses
2 Remove air filter housing (12).
3 Disconnect electrical connection (7) for transmission wiring harness and unclip at shield (22) for high-pressure pump.
4 Detach ground line (3) for alternator at longitudinal member at the front.
5 Remove contact protection (8) and detach starter/alternator wiring harness
6 Detach stiffening plate (11) on fender and conduct starter/alternator wiring harness (9).
7 Unclip starter/alternator wiring harness (9) on bulkhead and lay to one side on engine.
8 Detach and disconnect electrical connection (6) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit bracket.
9 Disconnect electrical connection (4, 5) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit and place to one side.
10 Unclip vehicle wiring harness at ME-SFI [ME] control unit bracket and place to one side.
Only perform operation steps 11 to 16 for removal of cylinder head covers or rails.
11 Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/6) or RH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/5) and on RH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/7).
12 Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/6) or on RH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/5) and on RH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/7).
13 Disconnect electrical connectors at the ignition coils (T1).
14 Disconnect electrical connectors to fuel injectors (Y76).
15.1 Disconnect electrical connector on fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B4/25)
During removal of the left cylinder head cover or left rail.
15.2 Detach ground line (34) from cylinder head cover
When removing the right cylinder head cover or right rail.
16 Detach engine wiring harness (41) on the rail.
Installation: Ensure correct seating of the retaining clip (33) on the rail.
17 Lay engine wiring harness (41) aside.
