Certain 1984-model Thunderbird, Cougar LTD and Marquis vehicles equipped with the 3.8L engine and automatic transmission, and manufactured at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from January 31, 1984 through February 1, 1984.

Description of Condition and Correction

Some of the described vehicles may have been built with an incorrect exhaust air supply control valve. Vehicles with an incorrect valve may require modification to help assure acceptable levels of emission control and to improve fuel economy.

Ford is recalling these vehicles to correct this condition. Correction will consist of inspecting and, if necessary, installing the correct exhaust air supply control valve.
