Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove 2 top transaxle to engine mounting bolts.
3. Grasp and pull clutch cable forward, disconnecting cable from clutch release lever.
4. Remove clutch cable casing from rib on the top surface of transaxle case.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Remove brake hose routing clip to suspension strut bracket mounting bolt.
7. Remove bolt securing lower control arm ball joint onto steering knuckle assembly. Pry lower control arm away from knuckle.
8. Using tool No. D83P-4026-A or equivalent, pry right inboard CV joint assembly from transaxle.
9. Remove inner CV joint from transaxle by grasping righthand steering knuckle and swing knuckle and shaft outward from transaxle.
10. Wire halfshaft assembly in level position to prevent overextending CV joint.
11. Repeat steps 8 through 10 on left inboard CV joint assembly.

NOTE: If the CV joint cannot be pried from the transaxle, insert tool T81P-4026-A or equivalent through right side of case and tap CV joint out.

12. Remove both front stabilizer bar to control arm attaching nut and washer.
13. Remove 2 front stabilizer bar mounting brackets, then the stabilizer bar.
14. Disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle.
15. Disconnect back-up light switch electrical connector from transaxle switch.
16. Remove clutch housing stiffener brace attaching bolts.
17. Remove shift mechanism stabilizer bar to transaxle attaching bolt.
18. Disconnect then remove transaxle control selector indicator switch and bracket.
19. Remove shift mechanism to shift shaft attaching bolt, then the shift mechanism.
20. Position a suitable jack under transaxle assembly.
21. Loosen rear mount stud nut, then remove bottom rear mount attaching bolt.
22. Remove 3 bolts securing front mount to transaxle case.
23. Lower transaxle slightly until transaxle clears rear mount.
24. Position a suitable jack under engine oil pan.
25. Remove remaining 4 transaxle to engine attaching bolts.
26. Lower transaxle from vehicle.
27. Reverse procedure to install.

NOTE: During installation of transaxle assembly, ensure transaxle is flush with rear face of engine before installing and tightening attaching bolts.
