Compressor Shaft Seal: Service and Repair

Except for manifold hose O-rings and front shaft seal this compressor is not serviceable and must be replaced as an assembly.
1. Remove pressure plate, pulley and field coil.
2. Remove felt seal, then snap ring.

3. Remove key from shaft using tool T81P-19623-NH or equivalent, Fig. 20.
4. Remove thrust plate using tool T87P-19623-BR or equivalent. Insert into seal bore and against seal thrust plate, push holder ring downward and pull up on T-handle.

5. Remove shaft thrust seal using tool T87P-19623-C or equivalent. Insert into seal bore against seal, Fig. 21, press lightly while turning clockwise and pull up.
6. Reverse procedure to install, coating seal and seal bore with refrigerant oil.
