Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect Ignition Control Module (ICM) electrical connector.

NOTE: To disconnect the module connector, push on the connector where it says PUSH, then slide connector from module.

2. Remove ICM/heatsink bracket assembly retaining screw from radiator support.
3. Remove ICM/heatsink assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove the ICM retaining screws and separate the module from the heatsink.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean the mating surfaces, then apply dielectric silicone (Ford D7AZ-19A331-A, or equivalent) to the ICM base.
2. Place the module in the heatsink assembly.
- Tighten retaining screws to 15-35 lb. in. (1.7-4.0 N-m).
3. Install the ICM/heatsink assembly to radiator support bracket and install retaining screw.
4. Connect the ignition module electrical connector.
