Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System W/Catalytic Converter:

1. Remove the two exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts.
2. Disconnect the HEGO sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the catalytic converter hold-down bracket bolt.
4. Remove the two catalytic converter to middle pipe nuts and bolts.
5. Remove the catalytic converter.
6. Clean the mating surfaces.
7. Position the catalytic converter and install a new gasket between the catalytic converter and the middle pipe.
8. Install the two catalytic converter to middle pipe bolts and nuts. Torque the bolts to 30-41 lb. ft. (40-55 N-m).
9. Install the catalytic converter hold-down bracket bolt. Torque the bolt to 14-21 lb. ft. (20-28 N-m).
10. Connect the HEGO sensor electrical connector.
11. Install the two exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts. Torque the nuts to 25-35 lb. ft. (34-47 N-m).
