Fuel Pump Pickup Filter: Service and Repair

WARNING:DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related component. DO NOT work on any fuel related components when the engine is hot. DO NOT allow excess fuel from the fuel filter or lines to contact any engine or exhaust components. This may cause the fuel to be ignited, resulting in fire and personal injury.

REMOVE

Fuel Pump:





1. Remove fuel pump/sending unit assembly.Refer to Fuel Pump/Service And Repair/Proceedures.
2. Remove sock-type filter from fuel pump assembly.

CAUTION:If filter is to be reused, be careful not to tear or damage it. To remove, grasp filter attaching ring at top and wiggle while pulling.

INSTALL

1. Install new filter on pump assembly.
2. Install fuel pump/sending unit in fuel tank.
3. Install rear seat cushion.
4. Connect negative battery cable.
5. START and RUN the engine. Verify that fuel system does NOT leak.
