Electric Load Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Electrical Load Unit (ELU) monitors electrical activity to modify engine idle speed.

OPERATION
The ELU receives voltage input when any of the following systems are activated:
- Headlamps
- Rear window defogger
- Blower motor control switch
- Cooling fan motor

The ELU sends voltage input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to be used to control engine idle speed.
