TCM - Cannot Link With Tester

NEW GENERATION STAR (NGS) TESTER - NON-COMMUNICATION WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) - DIAGNOSIS

LIGHT TRUCK:
1993-95 VILLAGER

ISSUE:
The NGS Program Card 6.0 does not link properly with the TCM. The result is that the NGS will not be able to communicate with the TCM. Also, data may be scrambled when recording PID (Parametric Identifier) data on the Power Control Module (PCM). This is due to an error in new software.

ACTION:
When diagnosing the TCM, Version 5.0 of the NGS Progam Card should be used instead of Version 6.0. When recording PID data on the PCM, Version 5.0 of the NGS Program Card should be used when recording data. The fix for these problems will be included in Version 6.5 to be shipped to dealers in late December.
