Idle Up Control Valve: Description and Operation

FICD Solenoid:





PURPOSE
Increases idle speed when the A/C compressor is engaged.

LOCATION
Located on the Idle Air Control/Fast Idle Control (IAC/FIC) assembly.

OPERATION
When voltage is applied to the coil of the A/C compressor clutch, voltage is also supplied to the Fast Idle control (FIC) solenoid. The FIC solenoid becomes energized and opens an additional air pasage. Air by-passes the throttle valve, thereby raising idle speed.
