Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain engine cooling system.
3. Remove the engine air intake resonator.
4. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove ECT sensor from the heater hose inlet pipe.

NOTE: It may be necessary to brace the heater hose inlet pipe with a free hand during removal and installation.

INSTALLATION
1. Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with Ford Pipe Sealant with Teflon(R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 prior to installation.
2. Install the ECT sensor in the heater hose inlet pipe.
3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the engine air intake resonator.
5. Refill engine cooling system.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
