Removal and Replacement

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the four console compartment plastic screws or C/D changer cover plastic screws (if equipped) and the console compartment door or C/D changer cover.







3. Remove the plastic screw, two lower screws, two center bolts, two upper screws and the screw at the instrument panel bracket, then separate the glove compartment from the instrument panel. Disconnect the glove compartment striker plate catch electrical connector.








4. Remove the two passenger side air bag module bracket nuts, the passenger side air bag module bracket bolt and the passenger side air bag module bracket.















5. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector bolt. Pull the connector from the PCM and position aside.







NOTE: The instrument panel has been removed for clarity.


6. Disconnect the PCM relay electrical connector.
7. Remove the three electrical connectors attached to the PCM.
8. Remove the PCM from the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Tighten the PCM electrical connector bolt until the red projection appears.
