RH Cylinder Head

CAUTION: The cylinder head bolts located in positions 4, 7, 9, and 12 are 127 mm (5.08 inch) in length and all others are 106 mm (4.24 in) in length.

CAUTION: The cylinder head bolt washers must be installed with the chamfered edge facing away from the cylinder head surface.

CAUTION: It is necessary to apply clean engine oil to the threads and seating surfaces of the cylinder head bolts before installing.





Install the cylinder head bolts in two stages in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten the bolts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten the bolts to 59 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).





Loosen the cylinder head bolts completely in the sequence shown.





Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the indicated sequence.

LH Cylinder Head

CAUTION: The cylinder head bolts located in positions 4, 7, 9, and 12 are 127 mm (5.08 inch) in length and all others are 106 mm (4.24 inch) in length.

CAUTION: It is necessary to apply Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G to the threads and seating surfaces of the cylinder head bolts before installing.





Install the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown
^ Stage 1: Tighten the bolts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten the bolts to 59 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).





Loosen the cylinder head bolts completely in the sequence shown.





Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown.


Camshaft Thrust Plate
Tighten fasteners to 83 Nm (61 lb/ft).

Camshaft Sprocket
Tighten bolt to 83 Nm (61 lb/ft) using special tool 303-098.

Upper Intake Manifold
Tighten fasteners to 10 Nm (89 lb/in).

Lower Intake Manifold





Install the lower intake manifold bolts and nuts in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten all bolts and nuts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten all bolts and nuts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 3: Tighten all bolts and nuts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





RH Exhaust Manifold
Tighten fasteners to 20 Nm (15 lb/ft).






LH Exhaust Manifold
Tighten fasteners to 20 Nm (15 lb/ft).
