Tailgate: Adjustments

41 62 014 - Adjusting rear lid





Note:
R52 gap dimensions serve as basis for adjustment tasks.

Make unpainted surfaces visible by also moving the hinges. Touch these up in the appropriate colour.
Do not damage adjoining body parts.





Note:
The operation is described on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.

Unclip cover (1) at openings (2) and remove.





Installation:
Guide (1) and catches (2) on cover (3) must not be damaged.





Slacken screws (1) on rear lid hinge to rear lid until such stage that rear lid can still be moved.
Adjust rear lid.
Retighten all screws.
Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ Specifications.

Note:
If adjustment is not possible, replace screws.
Use screws as of 08/04.





If the adjustment range on the rear lid is not sufficient, remove following parts:
- Rear bumper trim

Slacken screws (1) on rear lid hinge to rear apron until such stage that rear lid can still be moved.
Adjust rear lid.
Retighten all screws.
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ Specifications.
If necessary, adjust rear lid locks .
