Temperature Detection (Automatic Transmission)

CVT Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor

Function
The sensor is an NTC thermistor (negative temperature coefficient) which is mounted in the transmission case. It sends an analog temperature signal to the engine control module. This signal enables temperature compensation on engaging the transmission clutches and thus increases the quality of gear changes.

The CVT transmission oil temperature sensor sends a signal to the engine control module when the transmission has reached a temperature limit. The engine control module then switches on the cooling fan.

Installation Location
The CVT transmission oil temperature sensor is located in the transmission case.
