Diesel
The diesel engine supplied with this vehicle has inherently low air pollution characteristics due to its combustion system.
Exhaust emissions (carbon monoxide-CO, hydrocarbons-HC, oxides of nitrogen-NOx, and particulates) are controlled by engine modification. A portion of the combustion chamber consists of a "swirl" chamber into which well-atomized fuel is injected under high pressure. The injected fuel is mixed instantaneosly with fresh air. A high rotational velocity in the swirl chamber forms a fuel-air charge that can be burned with very low air pollution characteristics.
