Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Previous Recall Completion Check

1. Open the hood. Look for the previous Emission Recall Completed label
- EMR-90-009 - (Figure 6) on the hood as shown in Figure 7.

2. If the EMR-90-009 Emission Recall Completed Label IS found, proceed to the next page.

3. If the EMR-90-009 Emission Recall Completed Label IS NOT found, the previous recall was not performed. You MUST perform the EMR-90-009 repair procedures with the following changes:

a. When the exhaust manifold is inspected, install the front catalytic converter which is contained in the EMR-92-002 emission kit.

b. Replace the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve (contained in the EMR-92-002 emission kit).

CAUTION:
Do not over-tighten the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve.

c. Disregard the Carburetor Feedback Testing steps.

d. After adjusting the basic engine timing, verify the CO level at the tailpipe. The procedure is shown at CO level check in this bulletin.

e. Proceed to the EMR-92-002 Emission Recall Completed Label instruction. (See Label Installation)

f. Complete and sign an EMR-92-002 emission checklist. (See Emission Checklist Completion)
