PURPOSE

This bulletin provides detailed procedures to assure full compliance of the emission control system of certain 1987 Precis 49 State certified models. A letter has been sent to owners of the affected vehicles telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors Dealer to have the engine serviced. A copy of this letter is shown on page 15 of this bulletin.

Please note that the customer is not to be charged for the repairs covered by this bulletin. To achieve the desired results, it is important that the procedure be followed EXACTLY as described in this bulletin.

IMPORTANT

Failure to perform all Recall procedures outlined in this bulletin completely and accurately may lead to emissions non-compliance, customer dissatisfaction, and in some cases require another recall.

Further the EPA may consider failure to properly perform emission recall procedures as tampering, which may subject the servicing dealer to a fine of up to $10,000 per vehicle.
