SERVICE INFORMATION
The new 1989 Galant and Mirage models are equipped with a new 8-cut key/lock system (E-Series Key). Keys for this new system can be cut only on a 47~ code cutter which is different from the 6-cut or 8-cut 45~ code cutter used on current Mitsubishi models.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A 45~ CODE CUTTER FOR CUTTING THE NEW STYLE KEYS AS THIS WILL RESULT IN A MISCUT. A MISCUT KEY CAN CAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO STICK IN THE START POSITION, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE STARTER SYSTEM.
