Visual Inspection

1. Lift the vehicle and inspect the catalytic converter's manufacture date code located on the bottom side of the converter.

Note:
In some cases, the converter may have been rotated so the date code is on the top-side of the converter. If this happens, use a mirror and flashlight to read the date code.

^ If the catalytic converter was manufactured before 900617, (decoded as 1990 June 17), proceed to "REMOVAL OF CONVERTER FOR INSPECTION" steps.

^ If the catalytic converter was manufactured after 900617, (decoded as 1990 June 17), affix an Emission Recall Completed label (see EMISSION LABEL INSTALLATION for details) and complete a VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL - PROOF OF CORRECTION form (see COMPLETING THE VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL - PROOF OF CORRECTION FORM for instruction)
